Villa Tugendhat is closed to the public from 12 March 2020 until further notice to protect the public against the spread of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and Covid-19. This applies to all types of tours, entrances to the garden, public events, study and documentation centre and other activities. Information for visitors with already purchased entry tickets is HERE.

1) When is Villa Tugendhat open?

Opening hours March – October 2020
Tuesday – Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM (last entry at 5.30)

Opening house November – February 2020
Tuesday – Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM (last entry at 4.30)

Villa Tugendhat is exceptionally closed to public on following dates: 

April 21 2020 from 4 PM due to preparation of an evening event for public

May 14 2020 from 3 PM due to private rental of the villa

May 19 2020 from 4 PM due to preparation of an evening event for public

May 27 2020 from 2 PM due to organisation of the event of Brno city municipality

June 7 2020 from 3.30 PM due to private rental of the villa

June 12 2020 from 5 PM due to wedding ceremony

June 21 2020 from 4 PM due to preparation of an evening event for public

June 26 2020 from 3 PM due to preparation of an evening event for public

July 13 – August 9 2020 due to regular maintenance of the villa (the exact dates will be announced during Spring 2020)

2) How much do tickets cost and what kind of tours are available?

Villa Tugendhat offers visitors two types of indoor tours (prior reservation is required) and separate access to the garden (no need to book in advance).

Please note: interior tours are not very suitable for young children.


I. BASIC Tour
(residential areas of the villa, garden) 

3rd floor – the so-called bedroom floor (upper terrace, entrance hall, parents' section, children's section)

2nf floor – main living space, preparation room, kitchen

III. GARDEN
 (a tour of the garden is included in tours I and II)

Tickets for the garden can be purchased for CZK 50 on opening days, during daylight and in suitable weather conditions. The garden tour is without a guide.

3) Do I qualify for a concession or free entry?

The following visitors are eligible for a concession:

  • pupils and students (up to 26 years of age; a valid student card with a photo must be shown)
  • Teachers and tutors (accompanying a school group)
  • Seniors over 65 years of age and holders of ZTP and ZTP/P cards
  • Family ticket: 2 adults and 1-2 children under 15 years
  • children from 2 to 6 years: single admission 20 CZK

FREE admission is granted to:

  • ICOM, Association of Museums and Galleries of the Czech Republic and Art History Society card holders, ZTP escorts

The Villa Tugendhat cash desk accepts payment only in Czech currency or by credit card (VISA, MASTERCard).

4) What is the maximum number of visitors per group?

A maximum of 16 people can visit the villa in one tour group for capacity and security reasons. It is possible to order max. 48 tickets (= 3 sightseeing groups) for one client within one calendar month.

5) When will a tour date be on sale?

At the moment the whole ticket sale system is closed and no tickets are sold. Possible changes to the opening dates and ticket sale will be announced in advance. Thank you for understanding! 

 

For individual visitors (15 and less visitors) the tours are always on sale for the following 6 calendar months, you can buy see the dates and buy the tickets in online ticket sale HERE

For „group tours“ (16 and more visitors), the reservation system is open ot the following 9 months (the overview of dates, when the tickets are released for sale can be found HERE), it’s necessary though to fullfil these conditions: 

  • An order can only be made by email to groups@tugendhat.eu – telephone reservations will not be accepted.
  • The daily capacity reserved for group tours is max. 3 tours per day (= max. 48 people). The rest of the tours (i.e. five other groups) are intended for individual visitors.
  • It is possible to order max. 48 tickets (= 3 sightseeing groups) for one client within one calendar month.
  • A group tour must be paid via invoice at least 10 days before the tour.

6) Is photography permitted in the interior of the villa?

Photography in the interior of the villa (without flash and tripod) is only possible after buying a photo ticket for CZK 300 directly at the cash desk.

The price for photography of the villa interior outside regular opening hours is based on a commercial schedule. Information at: petr.dvorak@tugendhat.eu.

7) How can I buy a ticket?

A ticket can be purchased through the reservation system HERE, where you can also watch the status of vacancies in individual tour dates online. 

Guided tours for a group of at least 16 people can also be ordered by e-mail at groups@tugendhat.eu.

8) Is it possible to order a tour in a foreign language?

Tours are normally offered in Czech or English. During the tour, a brief printed guide is available in English, German, Italian, Spanish, French, Russian and Japanese.

For a group of at least 16 people, a tour in German, Italian, Spanish and French can be arranged by prior e-mail order to groups@tugendhat.eu.

9) Can luggage be stored during the tour?

Yes, lockers are available for visitors.

10) How can I change the date of a booked tour?

It is NOT POSSIBLE to change the date for tickets that have already been purchased.

We will cancel the purchased ticket upon your request.

Cancellation is possible no later than 5 days before the tour date. Tickets purchased more than 6 calendar months before the tour date cannot be cancelled.

11) How to CANCEL a ticket?

On our section (Brno City Museum):

  • we cancel the reservation / e-ticket
  • we ask gopay to return the amount to your account, where the cancellation fee is 15 CZK (which is deducted from the total amount paid)


On your part:

  • The amount minus the cancellation fee of CZK 15 will be returned to your account within five working days
  • if you are interested in another date, it is necessary to purchase the e-ticket / reservation for the requested date again
  • if you wish to cancel or change the date of a reservation that has already been made but which has not been paid, you must do so at least one day in advance, by telephone only at +420 515 511 015
  • Cancellation is possible no later than 5 days before the tour date. Tickets purchased more than 6 calendar months before the tour date cannot be cancelled.


No other option is possible at the present time due to organisational reasons.

12) Can tickets be purchased as a gift?

The gift vouchers for 2020 are sold out. The date of sale of vouchers for 2021 will be announced in II. Q. 2020. Thank you for understanding!

13) How can I buy a ticket for a cultural event in Villa Tugendhat?

If you have chosen an event that you would like to attend, you have two options for purchasing tickets:

1. ONLINE TICKET SALE

There is usually a link under each event directly to the ONLINE TICKET SALE section; as soon as you are redirected to this section, find the date and time for which the event is scheduled in the calendar, then the system will guide you further. You can pay for the tickets conveniently by credit card and print them out just like the tickets for tours.

2. TICKET PURCHASE AT THE CASH DESK

If you do not have a credit card, you can contact the reservation department of Villa Tugendhat for other booking options, i.e. by e-mail: info@tugendhat.eu, or by phone: +420 515 511 015/017. The reservation department is open during Villa Tugendhat opening hours (i.e. TUE–SUN from 10.00 to 5.30; in January and February WED–SUN from 9.00 to 5.30).

However, for telephone and e-mail reservations, please note that the ticket must be purchased no later than 7 days before the event. If you do not buy the ticket, the reservation is unfortunately forfeited, and the tickets are released for sale.

14) Is parking available near Villa Tugendhat?

There is no reserved parking for visitors in the vicinity of the villa; you can park in the streets around Villa Tugendhat without paying a fee but depending on the current traffic situation. If you plan to arrive by car, please be aware that parking spaces are not always easy to find, especially on weekdays.

The closest public parking is in the underground garage at Moravské náměstí. From there, you can easily take tram nos. 3, 5 or 9 to the Children's Hospital (2 stops) and walk up Černopolní street for approx. 10 minutes to Villa Tugendhat).

15) How do I reach Villa Tugendhat by public transport?

  • From the main train station: take tram no. 9 to Tomanova stop, then walk along Tomanova street (about 20 min. in total)

  • From the Zvonařka bus station: take bus No. 67 to Schodová stop, then walk up Schodová street and then Černopolní (about 20 min. in total)

  • From Česká Street: tram no. 3, 5 to the Children's Hospital stop, then walk up Černopolní Street (about 15 min. in total)

16) Is it possible to rent Villa Tugendhat?

Renting Villa Tugendhat is possible; it is subject to strict organizational limits and only with the permission of the director of the Brno City Museum or the director of Villa Tugendhat, a separate department of the Brno City Museum.

The building can only be rented outside opening hours or when no sightseeing tickets have been purchased.

The price for renting VT is governed by the valid rental price list depending on the scope and purpose of the rental (the whole building, the Technical Floor; meetings, sessions, company lectures and presentations and wedding ceremonies). You can download the rental price list here.

Unaccompanied movement of visitors in the interiors of Villa Tugendhat is not permitted.

Guided tours of the building can only take place in shortened form at the time of an ongoing rental, for a maximum of 20 persons for a fee of CZK 100 per person.

 

Basic safety and capacity limitations:

  • For commercial events, such as meetings, sessions, company lectures, presentations, etc. (hereinafter referred to as events), the premises of the first floor (Technical floor – former garden furniture storage, bookshop, toilets, or laundry room and coke storage) and 2nd floor (the so-called main living room) can be used.
    Maximum capacity on the first floor is 100 people (we recommend max. 80 people), on the second floor it is 50 people. Participants of the event are not permitted to use the exhibited seating. Stiletto heels are not permitted in the interiors and the participants must wear protective shoe covers on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Food and drinks are only allowed on the 1st floor or outside the building.
  • Wedding ceremonies may use the main living room and the garden. The maximum number of attendants at an indoor wedding ceremony is 50 persons, outdoors it is 100 persons (max. 80 persons is recommended). Participants in the wedding ceremony (with the exception of the newlyweds during photography) are not permitted to use the exhibited seating. Except for the newlyweds and witnesses during the wedding ceremony, all participants of the event or ceremony must wear protective shoe covers on the 2nd and 3rd floors.  Stiletto heels are not permitted in the interiors.
    Food and drinks are only allowed on the 1st floor or outside the building.
