THE MALTESE FALCON – FILM NOIR IN VILLA TUGENDHAT

THE MALTESE FALCON – FILM NOIR IN VILLA TUGENDHAT

On Monday and Tuesday, 1 and 2 July, the next in our series of film screenings will take place in the main living area directly by the onyx wall in Villa Tugendhat.

Due to daylight, the screening format will change a little during the summer. Selected films will be reprised during 2 consecutive days, always at 20:30.

The Maltese Falcon directed by John Huston was nominated for an Oscar for the best film in 1941.
Private detective Sam Spade receives a commission from a charming client which not only puts him in the role of a suspect in the murder of his colleague, but especially makes him a subject of a ruthless hunt for the black falcon, which is the key to a huge property. In a tough game for money as well as lives he doubles before the suspicious police, deliberately calculates the interests of a gangster clan and cynically overcomes a relationship he could succumb to.

A tangle of characters, their previous lives and false statements changes over time in a huge cinematic experience. Every sentence has its own charm, as do the individual characters. Excellent Humphrey Bogart became immortal here, while Mary Astor is equally excellent.

The film is screened in original version with subtitles.

Ticket price: CZK 200.

The capacity of one screening is limited to 30 people.
Tickets can be booked from 18 June 2013 by e-mail: info@tugendhat.eu or by telephone: +420 515 511 015.
