Villa Tugendhat Brünn, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

The exhibition Villa Tugendhat Brünn, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe at the Mädler Art Forum gallery in Leipzig will present the German audience with an adapted version of the exhibition about Villa Tugendhat that took place in 2020 at the Brno House of Arts. Visitors to the exhibition will see, among other things, photographs of Villa Tugendhat taken by Rudolf Sandalo in 1931, furniture from the house, original design documentation of the building, a 3-D model of the villa and many other period documents that have not been exhibited before. The exhibition will also include photographs of the interior and exterior of the villa, taken by Miloš Budík in 1956, which served as a rehabilitation centre for children and youth during this period. The photographs represent not only a valuable historical document, but also a distinctive artistic representation of one of the most famous architectural buildings. In addition to the documentary and photographic exhibits, the exhibition will also feature an audio recording capturing Grete Tugendhat’s memories and several videos and films depicting the history and current appearance of Villa Tugendhat.

The exhibition has been prepared by the Brno City Museum in cooperation with the Brno House of Arts on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the cooperation between Brno and Leipzig.
