PRIME MINISTERS OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC AND SLOVAKIA MET IN VILLA TUGENDHAT

On Tuesday 1 January 2013 a live New Year’s Czech Television discussion broadcast “Questions by Václav Moravec” was held at the Villa Tugendhat. The guests were Prime Ministers Petr Nečas of the Czech Republic and Robert Fico from the Slovak Republic. Their meeting took place in Villa Tugendhat on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the creation of two new states – the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In August 1992, crucial negotiations about the division of Czechoslovakia took place right here in the Villa Tugendhat.

After twenty years of existence of independent states, both prime ministers agreed that the decision had been correct. They also stressed that both countries still remain very close, and the relationship between them is unrivalled.
