EXHIBITION ON THE TUGENDHAT VILLA IN WEIMAR

From 10 June to 1 July 2016 the premises of the famous Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany will host the travelling exhibition on the Tugendhat Villa.

The exhibition will be launched on 9 June 2016 at 18.00, with speeches by the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of Bauhaus University Prof. Bernd Rudolf; Deputy Consul General of the Czech Republic in Dresden Eva Reinöhlová; Director of Villa Tugendhat Ing. Arch. Iveta Černá and Mgr. Lucie Valdhansová from the Villa Tugendhat Study and Documentation Centre, and the organizers of the exhibition at the Bauhaus University – Dr. Norbert Korrek (Theory and History of Modern Architecture) and Dr. Christiane Wolf (Modern Architecture Archive).

The exhibition is open from Monday to Friday, 9–18, Saturday and Sunday from 10–16.

The travelling exhibition on the history of the famous villa in Brno was prepared in three languages ​​by the Villa Tugendhat Study and Documentation Centre. This exhibition was presented to great acclaim and success in 2012 in Chicago, at the Royal Institute of British Architects RIBA in London, and the Czech National House in New York – Bohemian National Hall in Manhattan; a year later, in Holland – the Institute of Urbanism at the Hogeschool in Utrecht, the Czech Centre in Rotterdam and at the Department of Architecture of the Technical University of Eindhoven. In 2014 it was presented at the Museum of the City of Bratislava and in Stuttgart – in the exhibition hall of the Weissenhof Museum, which is located in a house designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. In 2015, the exhibition travelled to the Grassi Museum in Leipzig, CIVA Gallery in Brussels, the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna and Luca School of the Arts in Ghent. In the spring of this year, the exhibition was presented at the Villa Stenersen in Oslo and in the Milan Urban Center.
