FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH MODERN ARCHITECTURE
The educational programme is designed as an introduction to the world of architecture, interior design, and housing. It introduces participants to the basic principles of modern architecture in connection with the historical context in which Villa Tugendhat was built. Through a guided tour conducted in the form of a dialogue, it not only explores the specific space of the villa and its history but also aims to foster a sense of belonging to and care for the environment in which we live. Through games and physical activities, we will follow the story that has unfolded behind the walls of Villa Tugendhat over time.
What does an architect do? What makes Villa Tugendhat so exceptional, and what materials were used here? What is UNESCO, and what other buildings can we find on the list?

VISITING THE TUGENDHATS
The educational programme takes the form of storytelling based on the activity sheets Visiting the Tugendhats, which present the villa through the eyes of the children—Hanna, Ernst, and Herbert.
What must it have been like to live in such a large and, for its time, unusually modern house? Together, we’ll explore all the interesting features, clever details, and secret nooks and crannies of Villa Tugendhat, and we’ll gradually uncover why it became one of the most significant modern buildings in the world.
The programme also includes a project component in which children will apply their newly acquired knowledge to design their own dream house.

LILLY REICH: FROM LINE TO LINE
Some names remain overlooked, even though the whole picture would make no sense without them.
As part of the educational programme, we will follow the encrypted visual and conceptual clues that Lilly Reich left behind in the villa. Although this designer played a significant role in the interior design of Villa Tugendhat, her name often remains hidden in the shadow of the famous architect. Following her example, we will therefore venture into bold colours, unexpected shapes, and connections, and through play and creative activities, we will explore her contributions to the fields of interior design and architecture.
The educational programme was created to mark the 140th anniversary of Lilly Reich’s birth.
