This lecture explores the journey of the Barcelona Chair from Europe to the United States and the circumstances that led to its transformation from a European modernist design into a global icon.
Art historian PhDr. Miroslav Ambroz will discuss the role of Philip Johnson and examine how, after the Second World War, principles of modern design originally shaped in Europe began to spread worldwide through the American cultural context.
The lecture accompanies the exhibition The Iconic Barcelona Chair: Idea, Story, Construction.
