FILM SCREENINGS AND FAREWELL TO SUMMER IN SWING RHYTHM IN VILLA TUGENDHAT

On Tuesday, 27 August, 2013 a film screening will be held from 8:30 p.m. by the onyx wall. This time, the presented film is “The Glenn Miller Story.”

On Wednesday, 28 August 2013 the first all-evening public event will be held exclusively in the garden of the villa Tugendhat. “Farewell To Summer In Swing Rhythm” starts at 7 p.m.

TUESDAY SCREENING is part of the regular series of film screenings for a limited number of visitors in the interior of the villa.
Ticket price to the screening is 350 CZK. 
Admittance only with prior reservation at info@tugendhat.eu or by phone at 515 511 015. 
The capacity of one screening is limited to 40 people. Stiletto heels are not permitted in the interior of the villa

Wednesday‘s FAREWELL TO SUMMER IN SWING RHYTHM was prepared for the general public at Villa Tugendhat as an evening event, where the visitors will have the chance to learn some basic swing steps, watch swing dance performances with live music and from 9:30 p.m. see the first film screening in the garden, projected on the large format windows of the second floor.
Capacity is limited to 200 people.
Without reservation.
Visitors to the night screening are recommended to bring warm clothing and blankets for seating.

The Glenn Miller Story (1954)Tastefully directed by Anthony Mann, dynamic swing music by the legendary Glenn Miller is revived! Unforgettable Glenn Miller and his band use their instruments again in this stunning musical biography. Excellent James Stewart and June Allyson in the principal roles present the exciting story of the legendary American bandleader, guiding us through the life of Glenn Miller from his beginnings in obscurity and poverty to wealth and fame in the early forties of the last century. The film features original music performed by the Glenn Miller Orchestra and musical legends such as Louis Armstrong, Gene Krupa, Frances Langford and The Modernaires. The excellent cast is complemented by Henry Morgan, Charles Drake and George Tobias.
