In 1979, designer Viliam Chlebo designed a furniture collection that combined functionality, aesthetics, and technological efficiency. The T 2403 chair, T 2602 bench, and T 2203 and T 2220 coffee tables were created as an improvement proposal for MH Kodreta Myjava. Their construction, without a single weld, enabled cheap and easy production and transport. The furniture quickly spread to administrative and representative buildings throughout Czechoslovakia, and the T 2403 chair was also temporarily used during the first reconstruction of Villa Tugendhat in the 1980’s. The lecture will shed light on the work of designers during the normalization period and the conditions of creation within state industry.
