Fuchs has been involved in urban planning studies of the developing spa town since the 1920’s. Between 1927 and 1928, five guesthouses in functionalist style were built according to his designs. After Jurkovič’s buildings, they were another attempt at a unified concept of spa building and are among the highly valued monuments of architecture of interwar Czechoslovakia. Fuchs’ activities for the Bata company also made a great contribution to the whole of Zlín. After the establishment of the Zlín Regional Council, Bohuslav Fuchs, together with Jindřich Kumpošt, prepared a regional plan of the Dřevnice river valley, which for the first time in the Czech Republic was based on multifaceted studies of the historical and contemporary condition of the town and its broad surroundings. As a participant in the competition for the completion of the Zlín main square, Fuchs approached the solution comprehensively and very vigorously, interconnecting the original historical and the newly forming square. In addition to these activities, Fuchs’ social and pedagogical activities should also be mentioned.
